Description
This is a nice example of a double branch pattern guard English Hanger. The sword is 30 ¼ inches overall with a 25 inch blade. The blade has the running fox and the inspector’s mark “Crown 2” stamp. The blade is also stamped with the contractor’s name “Woolley & Deakin”. Research reveals this contractor as a partnership was in business from 1800-1803. The sword retains its original leather washer and brass mounted leather sheath. These sheaths are almost impossible to find. The blade has been cleaned and has an overall grey finish with scattered dark areas with shallow pitting.
