Description
This is an American Rev War Spontoon based on the British pattern. The head is constructed of three pieces and the blade may have originally unscrewed. The overall length is 8 ft 9 inches with a 26 ½ inch long iron head. The spear point is 12 inches long. The langets are approximately 9 inches long and the cross guard is 5 3/8 inches wide. The shaft is ash or hickory. The end of the shaft is plain. The shaft may be an in use replacement. This spontoon was found in Maine many years ago.
