Description
This heavy cavalry sword won the name of “Old Wristbreaker” from the men that used it. It was the regulation of 1840 for the US Dragoons. The sword was popular all through the Civil War and this one was contracted by Sheble & Fisher, Philadelphia. This sword is in excellent condition, practically unused with a large amount of original lacquer on the brass hilt. The blade retains a lot of its original polish and cross polish at hilt with a few scattered areas of greying. The sheath has most of its original brown lacquered finish.
Overall length is 40 ½ inches. Blade length is 35 inches. The sword retains its original buff leather washer.
