Description
This Napoleonic era sword in in fine condition. The upper part of the blade retains its original etching and bluing. The balance of the blade is in excellent condition showing its original polish. Under the quillion, on the recasso, is the maker's mark ( S H ) and the grip consists of checkered ebony, cross-hatched engraving. The gleaming brass sheath has 3 applied panels depicting miltary scenes. The reverse side of the sheath shows signs of wear, some dents and creases, consistent with use. It is rare to find a sword of this vintage in this state of preservation.
