Description

This is an authentic suit of Milanese half-armour with Cabasett. The breastplate, backplate, cuirass (skirt) and cabosett are all etched with a diapered pattern of fleur di lis. The armour is articulated and the edges are rolled and engrailed. This suit of armour is believed to have been made in Milan in the 18th or early 19th Century. The armour is not a decorative copy but an original, functioning suit of armour. It was most likely the suit of a palace guard.

The height of the cuirass and breastplate is 32 inches.
The chest size is approx. 44 inches.
The leather support straps are missing but most of the buckets are present.
As in the photographs the plates are crudely wired together in places. (As found.)
The armour is of a medium gauge (approx. .045-.075 inch) and is all hand-forged.
There is an old solder repair to one of the leg guards. (see image)

The Cabasett is raised from two pieces folded and forged and riveted. Most of the rosettes for holding the liner are still present.

Attractive,nicely decorated authentic armour. (armor)
