Description

This elaborate silver wire inlaid pistol was made and signed by Henry Nock of London. The pistol has an inlaid plaque engraved with the words ‘THE LADY POPHAM’. The frame is engraved with a sailing ship on one side and the other side with a naval cannon and nautical trophies. The pistol, along with the associated naval dirk, were exhibited at the USS Constitution Museum in 1976. A similar pistol and probably its mate was sold in Peter Finer’s catalog in 1996. The pistol is in excellent condition with all of the silver wire intact. The barrel is smooth with scattered areas of greying and scar from the tool to remove the barrel.
