Description
This is a rare lantern to find. It is often referred to as a “Light House Lantern” due to its octagonal tapering globe. It has a glass whale oil font attached to the base of the lantern. The base is marked “N.E. Glass Co.” and patented October 24, l854. It is in excellent condition with eighty to ninety per cent of the asphaltum finish remaining. It measures 16 ½ inches overall with carrying ring extended, 12 inches with handle down, and 6 inches at the base.
