Description

This horn is a martial flask of dark horn and wood and leather covered. It is probably the rarest of all martially marked horns of the Revolutionary War period. It is of the period of Frederick The Great, ca. 1740-1780. An identical horn is illustrated in Ray Riling’s book “The Powder Flask Book”, page 406, #1177. The lever on the horn is marked H.R.I.C. 25 which is a mark of a mounted dragoon regiment. The horn is completely original. There is one narrow crack in the body of the horn. The horn measures 10 ¾ inches long and approximately ¾ inch at the base.
