MID 19TH CENTURY ANATOLIA PRAYER RUG

Description

This Melas prayer rug is from Southwest Anatolia and dates from the mid 19th century. The rug is 3 ft 5 inches x 4 feet 4 inches with 2 inch fringe on the two ends. There is a tape sleeve sewn to the top of the rug for wall mounting. There is a 1 inch x 3 inch reweave in the outer bottom border and a 1 inch x 1 ½ inch reweave in the lower field. The rug is in overall excellent condition with very subdued colors.
